Media recap: Music albums of summer
We continue to summarize the past three months in the media, this time with focus on music. There were lots of phenomenal releases in every genre, style and format. To each his own, some of us prefer hip-hop, others love rock — we’re here to count the numbers, not to judge tastes. That’s why we analyzed every single article we tracked during the summer — the number amounted to 22 million stories. We scanned them and found mentions of this summer’s music releases. Now we’re proud to present you two lists with 20 spots each.
The first one sorts the albums by mentions in the media, showing how many articles mentioned each release.
Miguel’s “Wildheart” takes the top spot, closely followed by “Drones” from the famous Brits, Muse. Bronze goes to Meek Mill and his “Dreams Worth More Than Money“. Media loves hip-hop, it seems.
Now let’s take a look at shares of articles from the first graph — and see which artists are the most viral.
That’s quite a shuffle: very far ahead is Major Lazer with “Peace Is The Mission“, which didn’t even make it in the top 20 most mentioned albums. A remote runner-up is Meek Mill, who seems to have found just the right balance between mentions and shares, third is The Weeknd with “Beauty Behind The Madness“. The leader of the first list, Miguel and his “Wildheart“, finished only 9th here.
We’ll continue to do such recaps on a monthly basis, as well as new topical reports — be sure to come back for more!
