Eurovision 2016 – the pop music Olympics
Eurovision is one of the most spectacular pop music international shows covered widely not only in Europe where it takes place, but all over the world, especially after Australia once more became the show’s special guest. Each participating country chooses the best artists to compete for the honor of being called the best European singer or band. We were willing to know whose names made the most noise in the world, so we analised more than 12 000 000 articles issued before and after the Eurovision Final. Some results didn’t surprise us, some a bit unexpected.
Here’s what we got.
Before the event even started, critics predicted that Russia’s Eurovision contestant, Sergey Lazarev, would win this year, so we expected to see him on the first position. However, he’s not even in the top three discussed artists rank. Nonetheless, the numbers prove the Eurovision to be extremely popular in the UK since Joe & Jake hit the top. Iveta Mukuchyan stunned everybody with her breathtaking outfit and Dami Im was an Australia’s big hope and pride.
After the Final results are much more expected.
