The Oscar power

The biggest night in entertainment extends far beyond the Dolby Theater, as many of the world’s media cover this ceremony, and the coverage begins far ahead of the date. To prove this point, we counted all the articles and social shares about the main Oscars nominations and split them in two: the first part is all that pre-Oscar buzz, and the second is all the media madness in the following four days.

Here’s what we got.

In the majority of cases, the four days completely blew the previous 10 away in terms of articles. There are only two exceptions – American Sniper, which is explained by the scandal around it, and Bradley Cooper, well, because he is very popular.

There’s also a clear picture of who the media favored before the ceremony, and it definitely wasn’t Birdman or his helmer, Alejandro González Iñárritu. Notice how they make up for their mistakes in the four days after the ceremony.

We’ll leave the rest for you to see — there’s a lot of interesting numbers.
