Super Bowl XLIX: who won in the media?
With one of the biggest sports events behind, it is now time for us to do some research. For this report we gathered more than 70 000 stories about this year’s Super Bowl and declared our own winners.
If there were mentions in the media instead of points, would the Patriots still win? Would Tom Brady still be MVP? And which brand was the most talked-about? Let’s find out.
Predictably, the Patriots won in the media as well. As we know, the winner takes it all, and Tom Brady only supports this fact, hitting the #1 spot in the media as well, followed by two of his opponents from the Seahawks.
Let’s go straight to the most intriguing part: the battle of brands.
Budweiser takes the prize, because who doesn’t like puppies, right? We’ll see how long this formula will work.
Nationwide took a very different approach with their ad. It is a very bold move to tell a story of a dead boy during the one of the most entertaining events of the year. Anyway, it did pay off – they made it to the second spot.
Finally, we wanted to see how much coverage did Katy Perry and her glorious sharks got–as it turned out, not that much.
